Junjie Zhao Inducted into Phi Beta Kappa
Congratulations to Junjie Zhao (pictured, right) for his recent induction into Phi Beta Kappa, an organization that recognizes, “the most outstanding students at America’s leading colleges and universities”, with chapters at top universities across the country.
Founded in 1776, the organization has worked hard to recognize undergraduate students, whose alumni include, “17 U.S. Presidents, 42 Supreme Court Justices, and more than 150 Nobel Laureates”.
Zhao has worked with the ROC-HCI lab for several years, contributing to projects such as HAL, aiming to align large language model (LLM) dialogue with humans for improving conversations conveying medical diagnoses. Zhao thanks Dr. Ehsan Hoque and members of the ROC-HCI lab for providing opportunities for research and growth. His graduate mentor, Masum Hasan (pictured, left), “[has] devoted so much time in mentoring and supporting undergraduate students like me. He not only guided me closely, but also created opportunities for many undergraduate RAs in the lab, including giving me the chance to join in the first place”.
To conclude, Zhao writes, “What I’ve learned in the ROC HCI Lab will continue to shape how I approach both research and life.”
Zhao has worked hard to contribute to emerging research from the ROC-HCI lab and we look forward to following his future trajectory. The members and alumni of Phi Beta Kappa are in great company with Zhao.
