Ehsan Hoque joins AIMBE’s top 2% of engineers, recognized for advancing ethical AI in healthcare and global health equity.

The American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering has announced the induction of Ehsan Hoque, Ph.D., Professor of Computer Science at the University of Rochester, into its prestigious College of Fellows.

Election to the AIMBE College of Fellows represents one of the highest professional distinctions in medical and biological engineering. The honor is reserved for the top two percent of engineers in the field and recognizes individuals who have made outstanding contributions to research, practice, or education, as well as those pioneering new and transformative technologies.

Professor Hoque was recognized “for pioneering scalable, ethical AI technologies that improve neurological care, social communication, and health equity across clinical and global contexts.” His work sits at the intersection of artificial intelligence, human-centered computing, and healthcare delivery, with a strong emphasis on accessibility and real-world impact.

A Global Recognition of Impact

The formal induction ceremony took place on April 13, 2026, during the AIMBE Annual Event at the Renaissance Arlington Capital View Hotel in Arlington, Virginia. Hoque joined 175 distinguished colleagues as part of the AIMBE College of Fellows Class of 2026.

While many AIMBE Fellows are based in the United States, the College represents a truly global community, with members from over 35 countries spanning academia, industry, clinical practice, and government.
